VersaLogic Corporation is committed to supporting customers with high-quality
products and services meeting the European Union’s RoHS directive.
The European Union set July 1, 2006 as the effective date for this directive
to apply to most electronic assemblies.
The RoHS directive has dramatically impacted the embedded computer industry.
New product design practices, receiving and inventory procedures, manufacturing
processes, component selection criteria, purchasing processes, and design
verification requirements were needed to meet the provisions of the new
legislation.
The supply chain issues are considerable. During the transition to the
new RoHS compliant parts, both RoHS and non-RoHS components are in short
supply or are experiencing unreliable deliveries. This is expected to
last through 2007.
In order to comply with the RoHS directive and support the European initiative,
VersaLogic has significantly revised its internal processes and is now
capable of manufacturing fully compliant RoHS products. Several VersaLogic
RoHS products are currently available from stock and future products will
be released as RoHS-compliant units.
Most of VersaLogic's non-compliant products will continue to be manufactured
until they reach their expected end of life. Selected products may be
converted to RoHS compliant versions based on the availability of components
for the particular design.
Embedded computer users should rest assured that VersaLogic's industry-leading
quality, off-the-shelf availability, and exceptional customer service
will be extended to a considerable range of RoHS compliant products, as
new designs are released.
